Matty started his footballing career at Bolton Wanderers before joining the Salford City youth setup in 2016. He then had a period at Burscough before moving to Witton Albion and playing on dual registration terms with AFC Liverpool and then Bootle. He then moved to Skelmersdale Utd before teaming up with Witton again in November 2019. He has spent the last few years at Burscough where he has played 19 matches this season.
