A fine all round display from the Vics to move Vics up to 6th in the League
Vics were in control of the match virtually from the start with some fine attacking football. A good move in the 9th minute saw them nearly take the lead as Djabi flicked on for Camozzi down the right whose first time cross found Jackson Kelly, but his shot was turned for a corner. Then 3 minutes later, Dylan Switters put in a peach of a cross for San Unwin to fire just over the top. They did take the lead however in the 26th minute as Unwin got in down the right and fired a fierce cross in from the byline for Jackson Kelly to head firmly past Lewis Gwilliams in the Romulus net. Vics keeper, Ollie Culkin was then tested as he dived to his right to claw away an effort from Max McNulty. Vics were quickly back on the front foot however, and were denied a penalty in the 24th minute as Djabi's layoff found Anton Smith who looked to have been taken down in the box...referee differed though! Sam Unwin then nearly repeated his individual goal from Wednesday as he cut in from the right through the middle of Romulus' defence but fired his shot straight at Gwilliams when well placed. Culkin was then quick off his marks to deny Romulus after a long ball evaded the Vics defence allowing their striker an one on one chance. Romulus were now having their best period of the match now as half time was drawing near, and Culkin had to pull off two quality saves to maintain Vics' lead.
HALF-TIME : Northwich Vics 1 Romulus 0
The second half proved to be virtually all Vics. Two minutes in, Unwin again ran at the defence, but didn't get enough on his shot to trouble Gwilliams. Joe Hurst then tried his luck with a long range effort which forced a fine save from the keeper. Romulus did force an excellent save from Culkin with a low effort from distance but that only seem to inspire Vics, as they scored twice in two minutes. Firstly a routine free kick from just inside the Vics half taken by Culkin was launched to just inside the Romulus area, and Mama Djabi rose highest to beat Gwilliams to head the ball into the net. Then Djabi was on hand again to head home from close range after good work by Harris Saunders. Callum Parker was then denied by Gwilliams, and all hopes that Romulus might have had of getting back into the match were dented as defender Joe Clarke was sent off for foul and abusive language in the 80th minute. Callum Parker then went close a couple of times but the match ended with Vics comfortable 3 nil winners
