Another game, more defensive errors and another defeat for the Vics with no positives to be taken from it.

The match was scarcely 4 minutes old when a long throw was sent into the Vics’ box and Josh Oultram was left unmarked at the far post to easily head past Dalton to give 1874 an early lead. Scott McGowan then extended the lead from the penalty spot in the 14th minute after Oultram was brought down in the area. McGowen then rattled the crossbar with a shot for 1874 and it wasn’t until the 24th minute that Vics had their first shot on goal, and that was a tame effort which never troubled the keeper. 1874 were dominating and Dalton had to pull off a fine one on one save from McGowan in the 41st minute and then was forced into pushing a long range shot over the bar just before the break.

Any hope of a Vics’ fightback in the second half quickly evaporated , as just 3 minutes in, a mix up at the back let in McGowan again who had the easiest chance to tap the ball into an empty net. Game over ! Vics did get one back through a penalty converted by Callum Parker in the 73rd minute as Matty Clarke was dragged down in the box. Even this didn’t spark the Vics into life, and it was no surprise when 1874 scored their fourth as more sloppy defensive play allowed Joel Jones to run into the box and slip the ball past Dalton.
