From Angela Buckley :
Finding out on the 1st June 2021 that Olivia ( pictured above after her operation) had severe scoliosis was a real shock to say the least, to find out that in the UK the only option for her was to be fused from T2 -L4 with restricted flexibility was devastating beyond words. Finding out through research that there was an alternative surgery abroad gave us hope along with a huge challenge of raising the hefty price tag of £47k for the surgery alone. As a mum this was a mountain that had to be moved, I have to admit i didnt know where to start and wondered if anyone would donate, It wasnt long before my fears were eased not only had the whole of the Northwich Victoria football club got behind us which was incredible but also Mike Wain from Silk Sport.
Our first public interview was with Mike, Olivia and I can't thank him enough for the exposure he brought to the fundraising. However on a show afterwards Mike made an announcement that he and Jamie Dewsbury from the Vics were going to run the media city marathon in aid of Olivia.

They are aiming to raise £1000 which is amazing and although Oivia has already had the operation, before we flew out to Turkey, we had only raised £29200 so the rest was loaned which we are still raising to pay back. We are both glad that the race was postponed from late August as it means that we will be able to go and cheer them both on.
Thank you both Mike Wain & Jamie Dewsbury for helping to raise awareness of not only Olivia's story but also to highlight Adolescent Idopathic Scoliosis.
Silk FM's Mike Wain takes up the story :
As a local Sports Presenter I was touched by the story of a local young lady suffering from Scoliosis. Speaking to Olivia and her Mum ,Angela , was heartbreaking and heartwarming, simultaneously.
For many days I tried to give exposure to the family's fundraising attempts to send Olivia for the surgery she needed in Turkey. Speaking to my close friend Jamie Dewsbury, we felt we should be doing a lot more and therefore decided that we could do something we both love for someone who desperately needs our support. With this in mind Jamie and I are going to be running the Media City 10K on Thursday 30th September at 19:00hrs to show our fighting spirit and set Olivia's wings into flight mode. (original date of 26/08 has to be changed) but this now gives Olivia and Angela the chance to be able to attend and cheer us on, and all are welcome to attend.
You can donate at Mike's Go Fund Me page
MediaCityUK can be found from the M60 ring road on to the M602 exiting at junction 3 sign posted Salford Quays/Trafford Park. From the roundabout follow signs for Salford Quays turning right onto Broadway at the first set of Traffic lights. There is a 1800 capacity multi story car park located at the Lowry Outlet Store (M50 3AH).
The operation in Turkey for Olivia was a success at the end of August and she is now recuperating at home. We have set a target of £1000 which will go directly to Olivia's fund. Every Single Penny.
We will be running in the Scoliosis Warrior T - Shirts and I just hope we can add a smile to one of the bravest young faces I have come across.
Angela finishes off by saying Thank you Mike Wain and Jamie Dewsbury for their invaluable support
