Our first pre-season friendly is against our local rivals Lostock Gralam on Tuesday 4th July with a 7.00pm kick off and will be your first chance to see our new look squad.
Our now annual and very enjoyable pre-season trip to North Wales this year visits Conwy Borough on Saturday 8th July. Conwy were in the Cymru North League ( 2nd tier of Welsh football) last season but unfortunately were relegated after finishing 14th out of 16 clubs.
Next up on Tuesday 11th July is also an annual fixture, when we play our landlords and friends Witton Albion at The U Lock It Stadium . Witton of course just missed out on a play off place in the Northern Premier League West Division last season after a strong finish.
Next up is another match at the U Lock It Stadium when we take on another welsh team who suffered relegation last season, Flint Town United who unfortunately finished 11th out of 12 in the Cymru Premier League. Former Vics player Alec Mudimu ( who remembers him?) finished last season playing for them.
Next up on Wednesday 19th , is a visit to Newcastle Town , who play in the Northern Premier League West alongside Witton. Newcastle just avoided a play off relegation place by one point in a closely contested league. Newcastle Town are now managed by former Vics' manager Paul Moore.
Our penultimate pre-season match currently is on the 22nd July when we head over the Pennines to visit Thackley AFC who are in the Northern Counties East League, Premier Division where they finished 14th out of 20 . We then finish off the "friendlies" with a trip down to Hanley Town on Friday 28th July with a 7.30pm kick off. who stayed in the Northern Premier League West Division by the skin of their teeth finishing one place above the relegation play off place s after picking up 15 points in their last 8 games !
